Commercial Trench Drain and Foundation Waterproofing Project

We are currently completing a commercial trench drain installation and foundation waterproofing project totaling approximately 515 linear feet in Norwood, Massachusetts. This project addresses long-standing water intrusion affecting both the interior and exterior foundation systems of an active commercial facility.

Many older commercial and industrial buildings across Norfolk County and Greater Boston were not originally designed to manage today’s groundwater conditions. Over time, hydrostatic pressure and inadequate drainage can lead to slab moisture, interior flooding, and foundation deterioration that disrupt operations and increase long-term maintenance costs.

This scope includes approximately 515 linear feet of interior trench drain excavation, coordinated with exterior drainage improvements and foundation waterproofing. Interior work involves controlled trenching along the foundation wall to intercept groundwater and direct it to a properly designed discharge system. Existing utilities and piping are carefully exposed, protected, and integrated into the new drainage layout.

Exterior work focuses on relieving water pressure at the foundation by improving surface and subsurface drainage conditions. Temporary protection and site control measures are used throughout the project to maintain safety and allow continued building access.

Once drainage components are installed, the trenches are prepared for concrete restoration. Proper base preparation, compaction, and finishing are critical to ensure long-term system performance and reduce future service needs.

Improper installation can result in recurring leaks, slab movement, or operational disruptions.
